RoGina L Williams-Montgomery, such a long name right?
This blog was started as a way to chronicle my wedding as a digital scrap book. But as more people started to read it (well in my mind people where reading it) I found that I had a lot more to say to my “readers”.
Gennatay was a childhood nickname given to you by my cousins. I am a wife, a mother, a student, a shopaholic, Internet junkie and a host of other things.
gennatay.com is a lifestyle blog about turning 30 and all that it entails. It’s about working mothers who work full-time, may go to school and try to juggle everything while still holding herself together. It covers beauty, fashion, health and diet, music pop culture and politics. My hope is that someone will read a post and take something away from it. Whether its a laugh from a funny video, a decision from a review I’ve written or anything else.
The blogs motto is “Life, Love and the Pursuit”, I live my life full of love in the pursuit of becoming the best me that I can.
More About ME
My love or when I found out I was a good writer kind of snuck up on me. I grew up in Chicago and I am proud to say that I am a product of the public school system. (not the system as we know it today, that’s a whole story in itself) But, all throughout grammar school and high school I would get great grades on my essays, research papers etc. No, I never wrote for any school paper. I found that if no one argued against me or somehow got my point then the writing became irrelevant. I often fought with teachers on page guidelines and word counts. “If it’s a quality paper”, I would argue, “then does it really matter if it doesn’t met the requirements?”
And so started my life of roaming outside the guidelines to get to my end result. After high school I attended several colleges and had several majors until at 27 I decided on….wait for it..ACCOUNTING! I found that my love for all things money out-weighed my knack for writing a decent commentary. Besides, I could get my voice heard in other mediums.
Hopefully one day I will get around to making this blog into a book, but I don’t think the world will be ready for a best seller of that magnitude.
